Description

Pyzel Mini Ghost Squash Electralite EPS Surfboard

The Mini Ghost came to be as a result of working with Koa Smith to build a rippable short, chunky, fun version of one of his favourites, the Ghost.

Koa loves riding tiny boards for the smaller days on the North Shore, but we needed to pack more volume into them to make them functional and give them paddle power and stability. We shrunk Koa’s 5’9 Ghost down to a 5’5’’ and to give it more float we widened it up a touch, flattened out the deck and made the rails thicker and boxier. We also added a modern beak nose to keep even more foam under the chest area and up into the nose.

We made a few small changes to the rocker and it comes in either a round tail or a wider bump squash to make the board very fun in smaller, weaker waves. Overall the best way to describe it is a sort of throwback 80’s looking board with all the added performance features of a modern design. It’s made for high-performance ripping but is also great for less skilled surfers due to the added volume and forgiving ride.

Meant to be ridden 3-4 inches shorter, and around the same volume as your normal shortboard, the Mini Ghost will give your surfing a fresh feel and keep you happy in all kinds of conditions and types of waves.

About Electralite (EPS construction):

OUR ELECTRALITE EPOXY TECH BOARDS ARE BUILT TO REPLICATE THE ULTRA-LIGHTWEIGHT FEELING OF A PRO BOARD BUT WITH A BIT MORE STRENGTH AND DURABILITY THAN AN ULTRA-LIGHT PU.

This makes ElectraLite boards an excellent choice for boards that are meant to be ridden in smaller, weaker waves.

We use Stringerless EPS blanks and Epoxy resin (both help to minimize environmental impact), custom-designed Web-Fused Carbon reinforcement strips on the bottom and deck for long-lasting, resilient flex memory, and we glass them with 4-ounce bottoms and 6/4 ounce decks. The result is a very light board with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, added flotation for better paddle power, with a fresh and lively feel.

About Pyzel Surfboards:

Jon Pyzel is a name synonymous with surfboard design. From a young age, Jon grew up surfing in his home town of Santa Barbara in California. After spending time travelling, he decided to move to North Shore on Oahu to enjoy better waves and warmer waters.

Fixing dings in the Country Surfboards factory, Pyzel learnt how much about crafting surfboards and worked in all areas - a hot coater, laminator, ghost shaper until finally stepping out and shaping under his own name. This start with some of the best shapers and glassers in the industry would ensure Pyzel was heading down the right track.

Being surrounded by many of the world’s most talented shapers as well as some of the best surfers including John John Florence, has given Jon Pyzel the opportunity to create world-class surfboards, for all kinds of surfers and waves.

Jon still lives in Hawaii wiith his wife and 2 daughters, running the Pyzel Surfboards factory on the North Shore and traveling around the world to shape boards and test them in all sorts of conditions.
